In the past watching a film outside of home would be nearly hopeless, but today that is simplified. The creation of these genius devices was in 1998. The good thing is that generally play other types of video files that most DVD players do not play, so you can simply insert a video on a compact disk, and it doesn’t matter what type of file it is.

The costly portable DVD players are much more desirable as of their slimmer bodies, their small weight, and the fact that the monitor can be flipped to any place you would like. generally of the less priced ones do are more basic. Expect to pay around eighty dollars to three-hundred dollars in the United States.

Now that a whole decade has passed since the design of the portable DVD player, many companies have figured out how to manufacture them cheaper for average people to be able to purchase them. once they were first introduced they were more of a item for those who had lots of cash, but now most people can afford them. This has created a large market for the cheap portable DVD player.

Portable Jump Starter, A Great Automotive Investment

May 19th, 2009

Having a dead car battery can leave you stranded in dangerous situations, like an isolated parking lot on a cold snowy night. In these situations, having a portable battery jump starter is not just a good idea, it is a must have safety tool. Simply hook the jump starter to the vehicle’s battery, start it up, and go on your merry way.

There are many power ratings available for portable jump starters. They start at about 200 cold cranking amps and go up to over 3,000 amps, but the average is around 400 amps. The smaller boosters are great for small automobiles with 4 or 6 cylinder engines. In order to start the larger V8 engines you would need more power. Most jump starters perform in 12 volt-mode but some can perform at 24 volts as well to boost large diesel engines.

Basic jump starters come equipped with heavy duty cables and clamps to hook to your vehicle’s battery and a power meter to show the charge level. The more advanced jump starters have safety features such as sound alerts and reverse polarity detectors to prevent hooking them to the battery incorrectly as well as vehicle alternator voltage checks.

Jump starters can come with optional features such as built-in flashlights to provide light during dark times, power outlets to provide power for small electronics like GPS units and portable DVD players, and DC charging cords to recharge them from your vehicle. Some jump starters even come with built-in air compressors for inflating tires, sports equipment, and more.

The low-end jump starter units start out about $50 to $90. Schumacher makes several of these models. The more features you add and the more amps you need, the higher the price. The high-end portable jump starter models range from about $200 to over $400. Solar sells units this size.

No matter the price, a portable jump starter can provide safety and security for you and your loved ones during roadside emergencies.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Works with laptop perfectly.
I bought this to use with my Toshiba laptop, because of the dismal battery life experienced with the laptop. It works perfectly. I’ve not had any problems at all.

5 Stars great product!!!
works great for long flights as long as the seats on the plane have empower inputs…

5 Stars Excellent Product for Mobile Devices
If you need mobile power for your notebook, cell phone, digital audio player, GPS device, DVD/CD player, etc. then you have to get one of these items. It is very well engineered, and has a built in safety feature that makes sure your device will work before power is delivered to it. Be sure you plug your device into the power inverter, then plug the power inverter into the airplane’s power jack, or your vehicle’s power jack. That’s it!

5 Stars Works well, noise acceptable
I don’t have much to add to most of the other reviews I read before purchasing this product. No product is flawless and neither is this one: for instance, a higher power yield would’t hurt.

But it does exactly what it’s for, which is to deliver about 120W of continuous power. I tested it for the first time on an airplane trip 10 days ago. My laptop consumes slightly more than that with the wireless on and the NVIDIA card on, and as such, on my airplane trip the power was discontinuous. But actually, one shouldn’t use wireless on a plane… When I turned the wireless card off and select the Intel graphics chip (it’s a dual card Sony Vaio SZ680), power was continuos for the rest of the flight. Couldn’t hear the fan of the power adaptor in the whole flight.

3 Stars quiet for first year, now it’s loud
I liked this product just fine for the first year of use, but now the fan is so loud it’s really annoying. When we’re in the car we try to hide it under the seat because it’s so loud. Too bad the warranty expired so I can’t send it in to be fixed.
