What have to Know about Car Dolly

March 9th, 2010

Whether you live in a warmer climate or have to wait for the summer, the last thing you want to have to do when you head to the water is wait a long time to get your boat or jet ski into the water. The biggest challenge in all of this is trying to get into the right position in a very tight space to lower the trailer into the water. If you have a trailer dolly, you can make this a bit easier.

Unless you are skilled at moving a trailer, it can get a little frustrating. If you have a power trailer dolly with you, it is going to make this task extremely easy. You are stuck in this long line, wasting gas and getting more and more frustrated. While you may not be able to get out of line, at least you won’t have to burn your gas if you are using a trailer dolly.

Instead of letting the boat or Jet Ski sit, get a trailer dolly and get it in the water where it belongs.

Should You Sell a Car to a Friend?

Several months ago I sold a car; rather I thought I sold a car to a friend of mine. I thought that it was the easiest and safest way to get rid of the car. The car has been in a parking lot for a many days and the owner of the lot had it thrower by the police. The police placed the car in a city tow yard. I also received a letter that informed me that I was responsible for paying the tow fees and other costs that the car had incurred.

Two of my friends offered to help and we jumped in the car. We ended to refuel and change drivers as view as possible. We arrived in the small town where the car was impounded shortly before sunrise. We make other calls and found a national rental place where we could get a tow dolly. Leaving the car in the parking lot, we went in search of yet another piece of the puzzle.

Our Car Hire Nightmare

August 24th, 2009

A recent vacation break to Miami almost ended in disaster when the police stopped our car due to a broken tail light.

My girlfriend and I had decided on a last minute bargain package deal to Florida. We’d been lucky enough to get a really cheap last minute fly-drive deal that gave us 7 nights to explore Orlando and enjoy the Gulf coast.

We flew from Gatwick to Orlando airport and went straight to the car hire desk to collect the keys to our car. We’d booked our first two nights, in advance, at the Clarion Hotel and pre-booked our hire car for the vacation. Our plan was to move on to another hotel if we felt like it, but stay put if we were happy with the hotel and what was available on our doorstep.

Our first night was spent resting in the hotel ready for our first full day which we spent sight-seeing and shopping. We ended an excellent day with a fantastic meal at a seafood restaurant that provided some excellent entertainment along with great service. It was on the drive back to our hotel that things took a turn for the worse.

When we got onto the highway a police car pulled in behind us and inidicated that we should stop. The police officer told me that one of the tail lights was out and asked me to get out of the car to have a look, which I did. I told the police that we had just hired the car after arriving from the UK only yesterday. The helpful police officer suggested that I should open the trunk so that he could take a look at our faulty lamp.

He shone his torch into the boot and immediately we could see traces of what looked like a white powder all over the trunk lining. The police officer’s manner changed immediately and he returned to his vehicle where he spent some time communicating on his radio. It was only a couple of minutes before a second police car arrived with two police officers inside. We were told that we needed to accompany them to the police station to answer some questions.

At the station it became clear that the police suspected that our story wasn’t true and that we were in fact international drug dealers who had just emptied a trunk load of cocaine somewhere in Orlando. My girlfriend became quite distraught by the whole experience. It took no less than nine hours for the police to finally corroborate our story and verify who we were.

Luckily there were still people working at the car hire office, even at that late hour, and they were able to provide police with details of the person who had hired the car prior to us. I’ve no idea whether the police ever caught up with the person responsible for carrying cocaine in the boot of our hire car.
