Did you know that electric car kits are becoming quite popular these days? Vehicles that run on batteries don’t cause pollution and harmful emissions. Also they are much more cost efficient because they can help eliminate gas consumption. By running your vehicle on electricity can help you improve horsepower and eliminate your gasoline bill altogether.

An electric car kit is a kit that can either turn a normal car into an electric car, or more typically turns it into a hybrid car. The rationale behind the popularity of these types of cars are popular is they reduce gas expenses and reduce pollution.

By converting your car to run on electricity you can stop paying for gasoline and save hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year. Maintenance costs can be reduced, even if you are travelling at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.

One common fallacy about conversion kits is that they will diminish your car’s performance. In fact, they do not affect your car’s performance because they only convert energy that would have been wasted into electricity. This is then stored for use later. So, in effect, these cars are recycling waste energy, not draining energy out of the engine.

Instead of paying a professional to convert your car, which may cost you thousands of dollars, you can do the conversion yourself with the help of a DIY guide. It can be very expensive to convert a gas-powered car into a hybrid electric car, due to all the additional components that must be fitted with an electric car kit.

If you plan to turn your automobile into an electric one, you must keep a number of things in mind. The lighter the vehicle, the easier it is to convert it and the car must have enough room to place the batteries.

First of all, you will have to substitute the internal combustion engine with an electric motor. Things you will need are a power conductor, nuts and bolts, rechargeable batteries, power controller and fuses. These of these items can be found at your local hardware store and are in general easily affordable. There are also some basic tools you going to need like: screw drivers, cordless drill, various wrenches and sand paper.

Soon all new cars will be using this technology, but until that time comes you can use a very easy-to-follow DIY manual and build your very own EV for under 0! Although, most of the vehicles can be converted to run on electricity, it would be a good idea to choose a light automobile that has enough room to place the batteries.

Replace your internal combustion engine first with an electric motor. Also required for your conversion are: power conductors, rechargeable batteries and a power controller. These parts are easily found at your local auto-shop. Convertinmg your car is pretty cheap - somewhere in the 0 - 0 range, so you should be able tyo make back your costs quickly. If instead of using a DIY guide, you decide to pay a mechanic to do the job, then the cost will rise to 00-00.

Electric car kits are expedient as they provide you all the bits that you require to do a exchange. The parts are widely available, so you may be able to source them cheaper than buying an electric car kit. A good guide should provide you with links and sources to low cost suppliers. A key point to remember is that while an electric car kit gives you the parts, you still have to do all the work yourself.

Building electric-cars is somethingthat anyone can do - regardless of skillsets. There is an easy step by step resource that can help you.

Reasons For An Electric Car Conversion

July 2nd, 2009

More and more people are trying to find viable ways of saving money.  With so many companies letting employees go and the cost of gas on the rise, this has become a serious challenge.  This has led to the development of the hybrid electric car and while a great idea, buying one of these cars is expensive.  Then, with the size of these cars being so small, they do not work for everyone and they can present a danger in some conditions.

As a part of the electric conversion , people also enjoy saving a tremendous amount of money by doing the conversion themselves and the love diversity in that it works on all cars, but also trucks, vans, and sports utility vehicles, whether running on regular, unleaded, or diesel gasoline.  To complete the conversion process, people need only a few standard tools and a little time.  Then, with this being a completely safe process for the person doing the conversion and there is no damage to the automobile, gas to electric conversion makes perfect sense.  The benefit of using a conversion kit, like the the Build Your Own Elect Auto system, changing a gas powered automobile to run that runs on electricity, the person uses his or her own car, no matter the type, even expensive models such as Mercedes Benz, Volvo, and BMW.

Another kit is the Electricityfor Gas.  Using a kit such as this for converting a gas-powered car into one that runs on electricity, consumers discover that the kits are inexpensive, the information is easy to follow, and the conversion can be completed without the need for special tools.  After the car is done, the person has a high-energy efficient vehicle that is safe, powerful, and one that does not pollute the air.

In addition to this conversion kit being easy to use, it is also affordable, providing everything a person needs to turn a gas powered car into one that runs off electricity.  When people look at the low cost for the product and then compare it with all the benefits associated with the conversion, the electric car wins without trouble.

To complete the conversion, the instructions make it easy.  Once the person that has made all the changes and the car is now ready to run on electricity, the savings will be tremendous, not to mention cleaner air due to fewer emissions.  An electric car can be used for short or long distance trips.  Capable of traveling up to 100 miles without being charged, these cars are a great option for getting around town but for longer trips, the person simply needs to use the battery to recharge.  Additionally, electric cars are capable of traveling up to 50 miles per hour so they can be driven on interstate freeways.

To make the conversion from a gas-powered car to electric even better, people need to take time to learn about rebates and various incentives offered by the Federal government.  Simply put, deciding to convert to an electric car offers a long list of benefits from lower cost, cleaner air, and governmental deductions.

More and more, people want to make a difference in the environment, working to product cleaner air for generations to come.  Converting a gas car to one that runs on electricity accomplishes this goal.  Sure, consumers could visit any number of dealerships to buy a hybrid but they will pay significant money.  Instead, using a kit to complete the conversion is more affordable but the results just as incredible.

Electric Hybrid Car - What Is An Electric Hybrid Car?

January 20th, 2009

For more tips about hybrid engines and an updated version about hybrid electric car visit Hybrid Car Review.

The electric hybrid car depends on the use of a combined propulsion system that consists of the assisted-function of the traditional engine and an electric battery motor. The purpose of such a vehicle is to be economical in terms of fuel consume. The energy recharging device of the electric hybrid car is superior because more energy can be generated and stored either relying on an electrical generator or using the regenerative braking device. This power is either stored in the battery or simply sent to the electric motor that is responsible for setting the vehicle into motion. The motor of such a car is much smaller than that of a regular fuel vehicle and thus, the car efficiency level is higher.

Many users vouch for the electric hybrid car along with its producers as it is most efficient especially while driving through the city. The engine consumes less thanks to a triple technical system. The first is that which reduces wasted energy during low output and this is achieved if you turn the internal combustion engine off. The second is the system based on which energy is captured through regenerative braking. The third aspect that makes the electric hybrid car more convenient is that it uses a smaller internal combustion engine while adding power from the electric motor to compensate.

A lower noise level is another major achievement of the electric hybrid car. The electric motor is quieter than the internal combustion one and thus our health is better protected by this hybrid system. Protests against noise reduction do exist since people claim that the risk of getting hit when crossing the street is higher when you don’t hear the car coming.

Finally, the electric hybrid car models contribute to reducing gas emissions that ruin our cities’ atmosphere. The less pollution, the fewer the cases of lung disease. We all talk about protecting our environment nowadays but little seems to be done in the car industry. The electric hybrid car should be ruling our industry and should in time be outrun by superior technologies that finish the use of fuel and the release of toxic fumes into our atmosphere. We should begin considering the electric hybrid car as the more recent forefather of what the near future holds in store for us.

Hybrid Car - What Exactly Is A Hybrid Car?

January 20th, 2009

To read an updated version about hybrid electric car and more info about hybrid engines go to Hybrid Car Review.

A hybrid car is a vehicle that uses two or even more distinct sources of power in order to get propelled. There are all sorts of alternative power sources among which we can count wind, natural gas in liquid or compressed form, rechargeable units, wood, coal and the like. The very concept of hybrid car designates electric vehicles that adapt the usage of an internal combustion engine to that of the electrical batteries.

As mentioned above, there are other hybrid vehicles beside the hybrid car we will mainly deal with here. Mopeds and electric bicycles make the most relevant of examples here. These are the simplest forms of hybrid vehicles. The combination between a gas engine or a battery and the physical power of the muscles is definitely superior. The heavy hybrids cover the industrial or supply vehicles such as ships, hydraulic machines, buses, locomotives and so on. Normally, the term hybrid car-vehicle is used to refer to hybrid electric vehicles. This category includes the following types of automotives: AHS2 (Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Silverado, Cadillac Escalade, Saturn Vue), Toyota Prius, Ford Escape Hybrid, Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Toyota Camry Hybrid, Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda Insight and many others. A petroleum-electric hybrid car usually takes its power from an internal combustion engine (gasoline or diesel engine) and an electric battery.

The origins of the hybrid car are to be found in the early 1900s when David Arthurs created the first hybrid ever. Other than the combination of gas engine and electric motor, there are other propulsion sources used, but for a single engine only. Though there is a certain similarity to a hybrid car, distinctions do exist. Actually the latter should be more appropriately called dual mode vehicles (electric trolleybuses, dual mode buses, flexible-fuel vehicles, etc).

There are lots of advantages to buying a hybrid car, and the green considerations are not the only ones. First of all, you get to do something for the environment and humankind, but you also save money on fuel. There is a triple combination of factors that make the design of a hybrid car so appropriate for our times: first there is the combination gas-electricity, secondly, the battery comes with a high storage capacity, and thirdly, the kinetic energy wasted by braking is recuperated and reused.

What Is A Hybrid Engine?

January 19th, 2009

For more tips about hybrid electric car and an updated version about hybrid engines visit Hybrid Car Review.

What is a hybrid engine? What are the working principles of a hybrid engine? The hybrid engine is typically understood as an engine with two complementary sources of energy: thus, on the one hand there is the gas part and on the other, there is an electrical battery that works together with the gas system. Through this hybridization, the result is less pollution due to the electric element and the high power output of the gas engine. The thing that remains undeniable about the variety of hybrid engine models is that there are as many of them as there are hybrid cars. Taken individually a hybrid engine is designed as to enable the gas engine and the electric motor to connect to the drive train so as to power the vehicle and set it in motion.

How does the hybrid engine work? The principle on which any hybrid engine relies is quite simple. The hybrid engine works as follows: there is a combined effort of the gas engine and the brakes with the aim to recharge the battery of the electric motor; thus there is no more need to plug in overnight, as it would be the case with an electric only motor. When the brakes are pressed, some of the energy otherwise used to stop the car, is transfered by the restorative brakes in the electric motor.

In the case of a typical full hybrid engine, the electric component will take control while the vehicle is cruising, when it stops or when you accelerate it slowly. When extra energy or power is necessary, it is the gas engine’s turn to interfere to give the expected acceleration. In the case of the hybrid engine,we will achieve higher mpg than in the gas-only vehicles by allowing the electric motor to take over.

The fact that most of the energy is renewed, and to a certain extent saved when the vehicle is stopped or slowed down, makes hybrid vehicles better and more efficient in city driving. Unlike what happens due to hybrid engine vehicles, for the gas-only engine cars, driving is more fuel efficient when going at higher speeds, out of the city. The hybrid engine vehicles not only eliminate the need to plug in, but they have also increased the range of technical possibilities. One gets to care for the environment while still enjoying all the horsepower of a great car. We could truly say that the invention of the hybrid engine represents the first step towards going totally green.
