Which of These Top Three Minivans Should Your Be Family Traveling In?

January 5th, 2010

Are you in the market for a vehicle that can fit the whole family, but better on gas than an SUV? Would you like a vehicle that gives you added storage space, extra leg room but still drives like a car? A minivan might be the right option for you. Minivans offer the storage space of a truck, the passenger space of an SUV while still coming close to the gas mileage of a car. Three good options to consider are the Honda Odyssey, Dodge Caravan and the Volkswagen Eurovan.

The Honda Odyssey is a smaller, more compact minivan but still offers an array of features that are appealing for a wide range of people. Whether you’re looking for convenience or for luxury, the Honda Odyssey Repair Manual offers models that fit your every need. The LX model offers a 244 horsepower, 3.5 liter engine, anti-lock braking system, 3-row side curtain airbags, front side airbags, front and rear air conditioning, duel sliding doors and an MP3 input jack starting at just above $26,000. The EX model offers tri-zone automatic climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, power sliding doors, in-floor storage and more for just above $29,000. The EX-L offers a power tailgate, variable cylinder management, leather trimmed interior, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated front seats, power moon roof, XM radio, automatic dimming rearview mirrors with rearview camera display, DVD rear entertainment system, and it also comes with the option of a navigation system just above $33,000. The Touring offers Honda satellite-linked navigation system with voice recognition and rearview camera, DVD rear entertainment system, Bluetooth, front and rear parking sensors, and a memory linked driver’s seat and mirror for about $40,500. So weather you’re looking for luxury and style, or just comfort, reliability and safety, the Honda Odyssey has an option for you.

The Dodge Caravan Repair Manual was the first minivan ever made. The caravan is well known and very popular. Before the caravan was available in the normal size and in the extended size, the Dodge Grand Caravan, but now it is only offered in the extended size. A few new options for the Grand Caravan are the blind spot monitoring, and the rear cross path safety systems which are offered in the SXT model. With the 4.0 Liter V6 engine version, the fuel economy is as good as 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg while driving on the highway. The Dodge Caravan comes with convenient second and third row “stow and go” seating which leaves plenty of space for storage. The larger version, the Grand Caravan is longer and offers 15.1 cubic feet of storage. The Dodge Caravan has always been the pioneer in minivans and continues to add new safety features that will make you feel good about driving with your family.

The Volkswagen Eurovan Haynes Manual is the stylish, larger option of the three. This minivan is a modern, evolved version of the Volkswagen microbus that has been around for over 50 years. The Eurovan offers more style and sticks out in the world of minivans. The box-shaped look of the eurovan often makes it the preferred because it is different from the rest. The Eurovan offers more space than the normal style of minivan. Because of it’s heavier weight and larger size, the Eurovan is said to be a bit harder to turn but has the advantage of high seating, which allows one to have a better view of the road. It also features fold down seating for added storage space. The Eurovan is more powerful with a 2.8-liter engine that produces 201 horsepower. While the gas mileage is a little lower, if you’re looking for a bigger vehicle but still smaller and more functional than a truck or an SUV, the Eurovan might be the right option for you.

Which ever minivan you choose, you can be sure that your family will be more comfortable in a minivan, whether you are running errands, going to a soccer game or taking a weekend camping trip. Because minivans are made to be safe, you won’t have to worry about anything as you comfortably drive down the road with your automotive repair manuals in hand, leaving nothing or nobody behind with all the space you need in your new minivan.

Business Trips to Family Vacations, These Mulitpurpose Minivans Can Do It All.

January 5th, 2010

Economies all over the world are suffering and people are looking to liquidate or down size or just get rid of anything they can to save a dollar or two. That means great deals are out there on any new or used car or van. If you are in the market for a minivan for either business or personal use there are three that you should definitely check into, OK well maybe two and one you should steer clear of. The Dodge Caravan, Honda Odyssey, and Volkswagen EuroVan all have unique qaulities and features to fit your individual needs.

The Dodge Caravan Repair Manual was first introduced in 1983 since then it has gone through many changes both inside and out and as of 2009 it was renamed the Grand Caravan. It has stuck to its roots though, as a family van that Mom can feel comfortable driving and the family is safe in. It has a long-standing record for taking safety as a major concern when designing no matter which model year you are looking into. Notably the 2009 year received five stars for safety by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the driver front impact, the passenger front impact, the front side impact, and the rear side impact. It fell one star short of a perfect score in the rollover test scoring four out of five stars. The SXT offers a Blind Spot Monitoring system and Rear Cross Path safety system as standard equipment. The base invoice price for 2009 Grand Caravan SE is twenty two thousand dollars and for SXT twenty six thousand dollars.

The Honda Odyssey Service Manual was first introduced in 1995 as Japans answer Detroit’s iron grip on the minivan market. Since then it has carved out a space for itself in the market as safe, reliable, powerful, and easy to handle minivan that anyone can drive. The 2009 has added some really handy features a power lift gate, optional hands free navigation system, and a Variable Cylinder Management computer overdrive that disengages two or three cylinders when not needed. This allows the vehicle to give you maximum gas mileage, the Odyssey gets 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway making it one of the more fuel economy mini vans available in today’s market. The Honda Odyssey base invoice price is twenty four thousand dollars for the lower end LX and thirty eight thousand dollars for the high end Touring.

The Volkswagen EuroVan Repair Manual was introduced for one year in 1993 and then discontinued. The major complaint for that year was not enough power, guess the Germans didn’t think that a 7 passenger van needed more than a 2.5L 109 hp to get up and around there own Alps. When reintroduced in 1999 it came with a slightly more powerful 2.8L 140 hp V6 from the Jetta and GTI. This gives it enough power to get up and around the mountains with a light load or no load at all. The EuroVan is priced at a hefty nine thousand dollars even for the 1999 model. Guess having that Volkswagen logo helps it hold its value. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) currently has no safety data available. One shining star for the EuroVan is its reliability scoring nine out of ten stars for minimal problems.

No matter what minivan you decide is rite for you. Remember as a good tip to bring along a mechanic or trusted friend and automotive repair manual to inspect the car’s engine and underside, and if buying new from the dealer you should be shooting for the base invoice price.

Aavans.com Crash Testing Wheelchair Vans

Aavans.com Crash Testing and Wheelchair Vans

The mobility industry is an interesting one, for many reasons, but mainly because it’s somewhat elusive. What I mean is that information is sometimes difficult to gather.   For this post, I will concentrate on crash testing because it is interesting to look at differences between buying a regular vehicle and buying a converted van for wheelchair accessibility.

When you shop for a regular vehicle, let’s say a Honda Odyssey minivan, do you question whether the vehicle has passed all the government safety requirements?  Probably not, I never have.I have purchased 4 cars in my life and never once asked if the vehicle had been crash tested.  It is something I think the majority of us just assume, that the vehicle we are buying has been crash tested, and has passed.

Did you know that all modifiers of vehicles, like VMI, have to re-crash the vans we build after they are modified.  Since we change the structure of the original vehicle, by cutting off the floor, NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) requires the van be crash tested again.

When you are shopping for wheelchair accessible vans, ensure the van you are looking at passes all NHTSA crash test requirements. This especially becomes important when shopping the manufacturers who sell wheelchair vans direct and don’t use a network of Mobility Equipment Dealers. How do you verify that these companies have passed all federal regulations in terms of crash testing the van?I would first contact NMEDA (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association) and determine what is required.  I would then contact the manufacturer of the van you are looking at purchasing and ask them

About Hybrid Honda Accord

July 26th, 2009

The development trend and raised interest in protecting the environment, and saving the planet’s energy resources by wasting as little as possible has clear results at least in the field of car making. We refer to the appearance of a new type of vehicle: the hybrid. Honda is among the many car producers that have committed to this approach, designing a number of hybrid cars like the Hybrid Honda Accord. The Hybrid Honda Accord car was made between 2005 and 2007 by Sayama, Japan and Marysville, Ohio. The successors of the Hybrid Honda Accord are Honda FCX Clarity and Honda Accord Diesel. The class to which the Hybrid Honda Accord belongs is a middle one. This is actually a 4-door sedan with an FF layout. It is powered by a 3.0L V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission. The other features of the Hybrid Honda Accord are the wheelbase of 107.9 in, the length of 189.5 in (in 2005) and 191.1 in (in 2006 – 07), the width of 71.4 in (in 2005) and 71.7 in (in 2006 – 07), the height of 57.0 in (in 2005) and 57.2 in (in 2006 – 07). Other cars by Honda in the same family with the Hybrid Honda Accord are Honda Accord and Honda Inspire.

The Hybrid Honda Accord is a hybrid version of the North American Honda Accord which was provided in model years 2005 through 2007. The Hybrid Honda Accord followed the other hybrid models from Honda: Honda Insight and Honda Civic Hybrid. The third in the line of hybrid Hondas, this Accord variety was valued $3,000 more than the EX V6 model Accord and it maintained the same trim and feature levels, except the 2005 model which did not include the power sunroof. The Hybrid Honda Accord has been placed at the top of the Honda lineup.

It has the same displacement as the regular 7th generation Accord V6 power plant; yet the engine of the Hybrid Honda Accord is derived from the Honda Odyssey Minivan model of 2005. The Hybrid Honda Accord has the capacity to shut off three out of the six cylinders for fuel economy reasons, but only under certain conditions. This technology regarding the cylinders is called Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) and it was invented by Honda. The engine of the Hybrid Honda Accord features iVTEC technology and also drives a new compact transmission. This new transmission was developed as to allow the inclusion of the electric motor inserted between the transmission and the transversely-mounted engine. The fuel economy in this hybrid Honda was initially estimated at 29 mpg (8.1 L/100 km/35mpg imp) in the city and 37 mpg (6.4 L/100 km/44 mpg imp) outside. With such features, it’s no wonder that the Hybrid Honda Accord won the Canadian Car of the Year Best New Alternative Power award in 2005.

Help Me Honda

July 20th, 2009

So, you want a new auto, do you? Have you considered Honda? Not too long ago your choices were the Civic, Accord, or Preface . Today, Honda has expanded their line up to cover just about each segment going. Let’s have a look at their current line up and see how Honda stacks up against the competition.

Accord – Shortly after the Civic entered the North American market, the concord was introduced. The car has been so well received that it routinely battles with the Toyota Camry for the top spot in the Yankee market. Every few years the treaty receives a total refresh ; today’s deal is available in three models: coupe, sedan, and hybrid

Civic – When Honda entered the US market in the early 1970s, it was the Civic that led the way. The reason? High fuel use. At that point, Detroit was primarily building gas guzzling behemoths and the American market was ripe for an inexpensive and economical compact vehicle. Regardless of being derided by some – pregnant roller skate was one of the terms given to the Civic – the auto proved to be the toehold Honda wanted to get established in the northern US market. Today’s Civic bears no resemblance to the original and it is available in three models: coupe, sedan, and hybrid.

CR-V – Available in either FWD or 4WD, the CR-V is Honda’s compact SUV with seating for as many as five adults.

Element – The Element defies straightforward characterization. Some call it a bread box on wheels. Available as a FWD or 4WD vehicle, the Part is targeted to the youth set and is an alternative to Toyota’s Scion brand.

Insight – The first gasoline-electric cross-breed sold in the US was the Insight. Five years on it does commands a vital part of the Honda line up.

Odyssey – The new baseline for minivans is the Honda Odyssey. In just a few short years, Honda transformed a Plain Jane people mover into a truck with pizzazz. The Odyssey routinely competes with the Toyota Sienna for top respects in the northern US market.

Pilot – A 7 passenger SUV, the Pilot is Honda’s first large SUV. Competing against the Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Pathfinder , GMC Envoy, and Toyota 4Runner, the Pilot has performed well and has gained respect in the difficult, competitive American market.

Ridgeline – A 4 door AWD lorry, the Ridgeline goes where no Honda has gone before: off the road. Sure, other Hondas come provided with AWD or 4WD, but the Ridgeline was built expressly to handle hill as well as highway. The unique five foot long bed has a trunk built into it ; actually the Ridgeline defies easy comparison.

S2000 Roadster – Honda’s race vehicle capacities are displayed with the S2000 Dragster a 2 seat coupe that compares positively with the BMW Z4 Roadster. Ranked as one of the finest wanted car by consumers with several leading car mags and web sites including Edmunds.com.

Honda’s top competitor is Toyota and both now have luxury brands from which motorists can buy more upscale versions of their vehicles. Toyota’s Lexus division and Honda’s Acura division offer to customers autos that go past their standard brands. Still, you can’t go wrong if you purchase a Honda, a car line which continues to grow and grow because of high quality and consumer loyalty.
