Homemade Radar Jammer

August 16th, 2009

Many car drivers  will purchase a radar detector when wishing to make better time on the open highway. However this gadget will not work against a gun type radar device in which the radar signal is not present until the highway patrol has you car in his sights and pull the trigger. Then it is too late to slow down.

Continuously  jamming any radar signal with a microwave radar signal broadcast from your automobile is the best way. I have tested this idea with the cooperation of a local patrol officer and found that his gadget displayed random numbers when my  automobile approached him. One can make a low power radar transmitter surprisingly simply.

When encased in the proper size resonator, a special semiconductor named a Gunn diode will generate microwaves when hooked up to 5 to 10 voltdc. To gain this voltage inside your car, an 8 to 3 terminal regulator can be used. Correct construction and fine tuning your radar jammer can be difficult, if not in the possession of good measuring equipment for microwaves. Police officer radars usually operate on the K band at 22 GHz. or generally on the X band at 10.525 GHz. Motion detectors and alarms using microwaves (seen above automatic opening doors, etc.).525 ghz.

These little gadgets work great as jammers. If you can’t get any in your area write to Microwave Associates in Burlington, Mass. and ask for info on “Gunnplexers” for ham radio use. The component may be mounted in a box made of plastic – on the dashboard, or alternatively it can be mounted externally, so long as it is in a weathproof enclosure. Switch on the Jammer as soon as you hit the highway.

Usually, this gadget will not jam the cop’s detectors that face to the rear, or the side of the patrol vehicle. Drivers  using radar detectors in front of you will hit their brakes as you come up to bridges, large signs or anything large and flat which is facing you. The signal produced by your jammer is bouncing off the things and setting off their radar detectors.

Essentially, these wee jammers are a fantastic way to beat a speeding ticket.
