Why Those With A Driving Licence Must Continue To Drive Carefully
A startling statistic of the deaths on British roads attributes dangerous driving to nearly all of the seven deaths that occur each and every day. This problem is now being looked at by the government in the hopes that they can do something to solve it. In December 2009 the justice secretary Jack Straw indicated that there could now be a maximum of five years in prison imposed on those found guilty of dangerous driving. The maximum at the moment is two years in prison.
A lot of people just assume that it is only those young newly qualified drivers that are guilty of dangerous driving. However there are many drivers who have been found guilty of dangerous driving that have had their driving licences for a long time. Many experienced drivers pick up bad habits over the years and would more than likely fail to obtain a driving licence if they had to take a test now.
But if you are concerned about the driving of a friend, family member or even yourself, you can avail of courses specially designed for those with full licences. Courses have been organised by the IAM (Institute Of Advanced Motoring in London. Bad driving habits can be assessed and there are lessons available too which can help.
The fact that a lot of us would now fail a driving test if we had to take one would surprise many. Once people have obtained their full driving licence, they tend to forget to look in the mirror as often as required and are less careful about their speed. It is not only important that you check your mirror when turning, but it should also be checked when slowing down or speeding up. Being extra vigilant can of course save lives. Because how many of us would actually pass our tests if we had to take one now?
If you are looking for a driving related job, any potential employer is well withing their right to do official checks to the type of license you hold . Driving licence verification is something which you should take very seriously indeed. Don’t try applying for specific driving jobs without first holding the appropiate license.
