Electric bike offers a clear-conscience biking alternative

February 8th, 2010

It looks like a accustomed bike and it pedals like a accustomed bicycle. The difference? It is electric, has a battery, a controller system, safety features and, it is a cheaper, more environmentally friendly method of transport.

“Riding the bike was absolutely an amazing experience. It goes appealing fast after alike accomplishing any peddling at all. The only disadvantage is that it is quite heavy compared with a normal bicycle,” says Engineering News journalist Gerrit Bezuidenhout.

What makes the electric bicycle such an economic option is that the cost of the electricity used by the eZee bike is less than the cost of the food needed to produce the equivalent energy that is needed by the human body to travel the same distance by pedalling.

The bike additionally provides an environmentally affable advantage to motor vehicles, as the bearing of the electricity it uses for charging produces 20 times beneath carbon dioxide (C02) than active a baby car on a kilometre basis, and emits none while in use. The bike is estimated to save South Africa 12 000 t/m of C02 if 100 000 bodies use it, rather than vehicles.

“The high-efficiency brushless motor and lithium-manganese battery, combined with a lightweight aluminium frame provides a quality performance bicycle, and makes it from 10 kg to 12 kg lighter than most electric bikes using cheaper motor and battery systems,” says Swift.

Numerous brand quality proving events have been completed in most of the supplier countries, including a challenge trip in the US where a cyclist travelled the banks of the Mississippi (3 200 km) to prove the bike’s endurance.

“Because the eZee bike adheres to all the legislation requirements, including the baby being that alike accustomed bike traders ignore, like the actuality that you charge reflectors and lights for night riding, they accomplish for acceptable quality. The fact that you have power on demand also makes it a safer option to normal bicycles when riding in traffic. They are of acutely acceptable amount for money if you attending at the technology and aeon apparatus that is fitted,” says Swift.

The electric bike bazaar globally has developed added than 20% back 2005, with an estimated 20-million bikes awash anniversary year.

According to Cycle Electric ten-million electric bicycles were produced in China during 2005, which is expected to rise towards 25-million by 2009.

In efforts to encourage cyclists to use this environmentally friendly option, some governments are offering citizens incentives. In Pasadena, California, a accolade programme has been developed with banknote handouts for common ebikers and a 0 subsidy.

Olympic Games Gets A New Partner

November 29th, 2009

BMW have recently been put into the limelight as they will be partnered with the Olympics in 2012 as they are set to supply cars.

In fact BMW are going to be sending over 4,000 BMW Cars over to the Olympic and it would seem that the deciding factor on BMW is because they are really trying hard to cut down on all those CO2 emissions. However surely sending 4,000 cars over to the UK to use for just two weeks to only have to send them back again is actually going to use up a lot of fuel.

Surely there are better ways to get these people where they need to be?

Runners

This one is easy, jog it in people. There would not be a need to pay my taxes for a waste of money training facility if you ran to the stadium. These people are supposed to be fit right?

Rowers

This one is not a difficult one at all, put the boat into the Thames and row to the stadium. You seem to do it every single day so one more time isnt going to hurt!

Cyclists

Is it really that difficult to get on your bike for 10 minutes and ride to the stadium. Thousands of people do it everyday.

If you are not actually taking part in any of the above events there is an alternative, walk in? It is ridiculous as we are going to be using more C02 omissions by putting the athletes in these cars. These people are hardly famous, why are they getting so much!

So the next time you are after a used cars you could wait for the 4,000 that are going to be left at the end of the games. If perhaps you are incredibly lucky you could get into one of the cars from the BMW 3 series.
